What was meant to happen?
- We rang up a scaffolding company to come set up around our building site.
What did happen?
- When the scaffolder's arrived at the building site they assumed it was a two storey house and they arrived with more workers and more scaffolding.
Why did it happen?
- They worker who had the responsibility of making the order in with scaffolder’s forgot to mention that it was a one storey house so that immediately made the scaffolding company hire more materials and hire more staff for our company.
What did we do to fix it, or how did we fix it?
-
We
discussed the situation with the scaffolders because they weren’t happy they
had to take 3 workers off the site and take half the scaffolding back. We also
had to sit down with the worker who called up the scaffolding company and tell
him the right protégé in ordering any sort of sub contractor or any supplier.

What was meant to happen? –
We booked in for an emergency plumber to come fix what the original plumber had done with some of the installation of some of the piping from bathroom 1 of the house.
What did happen? –
The original plumber did not a good job of the original installation and had begun to leak and form rather large puddles on 1 side of the house.
Why did it happen? –
It really comes down to hiring not a good plumber he wasn’t the first one we had who did the rest of the house so we just hired a small company to come in and do a quick day job. We didn’t get the big company in due to the fact they were all booked but they could come in end of the week. The owner couldn’t wait that long and wanted it done ASAP.

How to merneaver around a protected native tree.
A native tree is in the path of your house and within the profiles, you need this space because it’s the main living quarters. Various processes will need to be considered to removing the kauri tree by chopping it down or we must change our plans and build around it. Our first process was to call up the waitakere city council and see what the polices and laws are with the 3.0 meters high kauri tree and see if we can move it our selves. We received notification that it was all right for us to chop down the kauri tree but we would have to follow the procege of filling out a consent due to the fact the it’s a native tree. Previous to calling up the council we placed an orange fence around the tree to make sure no one messed around with it. We eventually got notice back from the council the ok. We got an aberista in to saw it down to the base. After all this was down we lost a fear a bit of money on paying for the consent and paying for aberist to come in a chop the kauri down and clear it away for us.

What was meant to happen? –
We were meaning to get a wall frame and building inspection on the Wednesday morning coming up so we can start with our roof framing. The communication involved with the inspector was very limited and not very clear.
What did happen? –
The inspector arrived just before lunch due to the fact the worker who made the call did not give him clear instruction of the address I since he was late the workers had to stop at a vital time of their day.
Why did it happen? –
It happened due to the fact the apprentice who did all the calling didn’t give him the right instruction and right address he came late which screwed up a big part of our day.
What did we do to fix it, or how did we fix it? -
The apprentice was given the run down on how important a building inspector is and how we can lose money and contacts if we don’t make it clear with the inspector the information.
